Prime Minister and FIFA President look forward to strengthening sports cooperation in preparation for ASEAN’s joint bid to host World Cup 2034

On 20 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister, had a side meeting with Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, during the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly. Also present was H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance sports cooperation between Thailand, ASEAN, and FIFA. In this regard, Prime Minister encouraged FIFA to engage more with ASEAN due to the Community’s potential in football.
On this occasion, Prime Minister reiterated ASEAN’s readiness and commitment to continuously develop its football talents in preparation for ASEAN’s joint bid to host World Cup 2034.
