On 20 September 2023, H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, Prime Minister, delivered opening remarks for the ASEAN side event “Fostering Partnership for Our Common Future: Enhancing Multi-stakeholder Partnerships for SDGs in ASEAN.” Also in attendance were H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. José Ramos-Horta, President of Timor-Leste, H.E. Mrs. Retno Marsudi, Foreign Minister of Indonesia, and H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the UNESCAP
Prime Minister reiterated Thailand’s commitment to play a leading role in the pursuit of environmentally-friendly economic growth and shared with the delegates his visions to promote green economy in the region through the ASEAN Green Agenda. He also discussed potential opportunities for ASEAN and Thailand to become a hub of sustainable manufacturing and sustainable supply chain.
This ASEAN side event was co-organized on the sidelines of UNGA78 by Thailand as ASEAN Coordinator for sustainable development cooperation, UNESCAP, ASEAN Secretariat, and the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue (ACSDSD) to present ASEAN’s approach to sustainable development and promote partnerships with relevant stakeholders in enhancing cooperation to accelerate the SDGs in ASEAN
