On 16 February 2026, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, chaired an interagency meeting on the preparation to organise a Special Programme, entitled “Thailand’s Efforts to Strengthen ASEAN’s Coordination in Disaster Management and Tabletop Exercise” at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was attended by over 40 representatives from relevant Thai agencies, including the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Public Health.

 

The above-mentioned Programme, scheduled to be held on 26-27 March 2026 in Bangkok and in Chainat Province where the Disaster Emergency Logistics System for ASEAN or DELSA is located, aims to enhance practical understanding among relevant Thai agencies, the ASEAN Co-ordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management or AHA Centre, and relevant international organisations regarding the provision of assistance through ASEAN mechanisms in an event of disaster(s) in the region.
