On 9-10 February 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, together with its counterpart from Canda and Japan, co-chaired the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Workshop on Lessons Learned in Governance of Security of and in the Use of ICTs at the Chatrium Grand Hotel Bangkok, Bangkok Thailand. More than 50 participants from ASEAN Member States, government officials, and representatives of organizations participating in the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) attended the event.
 
Mrs. Chatvadee Chindawongse, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented Thailand in delivering the opening remarks alongside representatives from Canada and Japan. Deputy Director-General reiterates that cybersecurity, beyond technical aspect, also involves governance and collaboration, especially in the present day where cyber incidents can impact people’s livelihood.
During the workshop, Air Vice Marshal Amorn Chomchoey, Secretary-General of the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) of Thailand was invited to deliver a presentation on “Regional Developments on ICTs Security.” Dr. Sak Segkhoonthod, Advisor of the Electronic Transaction Development Agency (ETDA) and Dr. Pheeradej Na Nan, Expert Board Committee on Information and Communication Technology, the National Board of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand, as well as Mr. Paween Thanarat, Counsellor, Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand also participated as speakers for the workshop.
 
The workshop highlighted Thailand’s proactive and leading role in advancing cybersecurity cooperation within the ASEAN framework, including efforts to address online scam issues in the region. The 2-day workshop aims to present the perspectives of various countries on the development of cybersecurity policies as it served as a platform for exchanging best practices on relevant issues including the formulation of national cybersecurity strategies and legal frameworks, AI governance, preparation for post-quantum risks, incident response, as well as public-private partnership.
