On 13 July 2023, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs co-chaired the ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Meeting with H.E. Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The Meeting welcomed the historic milestone of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and acknowledged the significant achievements of ASEAN-Japan relations, reflecting the “Golden Friendship, Golden Opportunities” – the catchphrase of the 50th Anniversary. The Meeting also exchanged views on the geopolitical developments as well as discussed the establishment of the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) and preparations for the upcoming 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit in September 2023 in Jakarta and the ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit in December 2023 in Tokyo.
Thailand is currently the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations (2021-2024) and attaches importance to promoting cooperation between ASEAN and Japan in the areas of –public health, sustainable development, and people-to-people exchanges, especially among the youth.
