On 16 May 2025, H.E. Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, as the Country Coordinator for ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations (2024-2027), co-chaired the 29^th ASEAN-ROK Dialogue in Bangkok with H.E. Mr. Chung Byung-won, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs and Senior Official of the ROK. Senior Officials or representatives of ASEAN Member States and the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN attended the Meeting. Senior Official of Timor-Leste was also present as Observer.

The Meeting discussed ways to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), including advancing peace and security, building a smart and environmentally-friendly future, and promoting socio-cultural cooperation. The Meeting also exchanged views on regional and international issues.

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs led discussion in the area of science, technology and innovation, highlighting cooperation with the ROK in (1) digital economy and digital capability building; (2) responsible use of AI while strengthening cybersecurity; (3) smart mobolity and smart cities, including EV ecosystem development in ASEAN.

In addition, prior to the Meeting, the Permanent Secretary held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister for Political Affairs and Senior Official of the ROK to strengthen the ASEAN-ROK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established in 2024 on the occasion of the 35^th anniversary of dialogue relations. Both sides also discussed bilateral cooperation, including the exchanges of high-level visits, trade cooperation, and exchanged views on developments in the region.
