From 19-21 March 2025, representatives from Department of ASEAN Affairs attended the 16th ASEAN Regional Forum Inter-Sessional Meeting on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (ARF ISM on NPD) in Manila, the Philippines. The meeting was hosted by Australia, with the Philippines and New Zealand as co-chairs.

The meeting discussed key issues such as nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, risk reduction, youth engagement, and space security. Participants discussed Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zones, especially the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ) or the Bangkok Treaty, and explored the role of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and cyber technologies.

Thailand reaffirmed its commitment to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and advocated for transparency, inclusivity, and verifiability. Thailand also highlighted the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in medical and socio-economic applications.
