On 22-23 April 2025, Thailand, Indonesia, China and the European Union co-chaired the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Workshop on Risk Reduction, Preparedness, and Disaster Response, preceding the Renewal of AADMER in Jakarta, Indonesia. H.E. Mrs. Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, delivered opening remarks on behalf of Thailand alongside representatives from other co-chairs.

At the Workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Tavida Kamolvej, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, delivered a presentation on “Livable Bangkok for All: Climate Change and Disaster Resilient City to Sustainability”, which included insights on Bangkok’s response in the aftermath of the Myanmar earthquake. Her presentation was warmly welcomed and well-received by all participants.

The Workshop served as a platform for exchanging best practices and strengthening cooperation in disaster relief under the framework of the ARF. Outcomes from the workshop are expected to contribute meaningfully to the development of the new AADMER Work Programme.
