On 20 February 2026, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, along with Mr. Monsak Jangariyawong, Director of the Economic Division, and officials from the ASEAN Department, met with Ms. Joy M. Sakurai, Chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Mission to ASEAN, during her visit to Thailand. The Chargé d'affaires was accompanied by Mr. Michael Ronning, Head of the Regional Strategic Assistance Section, and Ms. Jessica Panchatha, Second Secretary, the U.S. Embassy in Thailand.  Both sides exchanged views on ASEAN cooperation and ASEAN-U.S. relations, as well as key regional issues including efforts to address online scams, disaster management, the environment, digital economy, people-to-people relations and education.
