On 12 March 2026, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, chaired a preparation meeting for a Special Programme entitled “Thailand’s Efforts to Strengthen ASEAN’s Coordination in Disaster Management and Tabletop Exercise”, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Interior of Thailand will co-organise in Bangkok and Chainat Province on 26-27 March 2026. The Special Programme is aimed at enhancing understanding and coordination on disaster relief response in ASEAN among relevant Thai agencies as well as countries and regional/international organisations concerned. At the meeting, Deputy Permanent Secretary Chettaphan stressed the importance that Thailand has given to strengthening regional disaster management and resilience and discussed ways to enhance effective disaster relief efforts in the region. 

 The meeting was attended by over 40 representatives from relevant Thai agencies and state enterprises, including the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Public Health.
