On 26 June 2026, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, met with Mr. Kirk Yates, Programme Director of the ASEAN–New Zealand Vision Fund, during his visit to Thailand. Ms. Abigail Poole, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of New Zealand to Thailand as well as officers of both sides also attended.

During the meeting, DDG Suchada reiterated Thailand’s readiness to work closely with New Zealand and ASEAN Member States to advance concrete cooperation under the ASEAN-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through the ASEAN-New Zealand Vision Fund. She also noted that the Fund will play a crucial role in advancing ASEAN-New Zealand cooperation in various areas. As for Thailand, the priorites included transnational crime and anti-online scams, carbon markets and green technology, disaster management, trade and investment, and maritime security. DDG also affirmed the ASEAN Department’s readiness to coordinate with relevant Thai agencies to leverage the Fund in advancing ASEAN-New Zealand cooperation.

The ASEAN-New Zealand Vision Fund was established at the ASEAN–New Zealand Commemorative Summit on 28 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on the occasion of the 50^th Anniversary of ASEAN-New Zealand Dialogue Relations and the establishment of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
