On April 23, 2025, Mrs. Chatvadee Chindawongse, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, participated in the eighty-first session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (CS81), held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, under Agenda Item 2(b): Sub-regional perspectives on current and emerging policy issues for inclusive and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.
The Deputy Director-General, on behalf of Thailand, deliver an intervention underscoring the importance of inclusive and sustainable development in addressing the challenges posed by the rapid urbanisation in ASEAN, and in achieving the “Green ASEAN”, which forms part of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. She also highlighted Thailand’s role as the ASEAN Coordinator for Sustainable Development Cooperation through the development of the Complementarities Initiative (CI) 2.0 report to explore five new priority areas, namely green finance, resilience against climate change, energy transition, effective digital transformation, and networking and partnerships, which would serve as key mechanisms in driving resilient and sustainable urban development in ASEAN.
