On 5 June 2025, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Director of the Political and Security Division, Department of ASEAN Affairs, attended the 23^rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Inter-Sessional Meeting on Disaster Relief (ARF ISM on DR), held in a hybrid format in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Meeting discussed and exchanged views on developments in cooperation and best practices, civil-military coordination, and youth engagement in disaster relief and response. Thailand emphasized the important role of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) as a regional coordination mechanism, as well as Thailand’s support in response to the earthquake in Myanmar. Thailand also highlighted the importance of engagement with academic and the private sectors to complement government efforts in disaster management.
