On 20 December 2018, H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi,  ASEAN Secretary-General paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Pichet Duronkaveroj,  Minister of Digital Economy and Society during the former’s visit to Thailand.  Both sides discussed priority issues under Thailand’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019, which included the promotion of digital economy to reduce economic inequality, the International Mobile Roaming Single Tariff, ASEAN Smart City, E-Commerce and Cyber Security.  The ASEAN Secretary-General took note with appreciation of Thailand’s success in launching  the Pracharat Internet Project that aims to expand the internet broadband network to cover all areas throughout Thailand.  In addition, Thailand will host  the ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Retreat in April or May 2019.
