On 8 January 2016, H.E. Mr. Chaisiri Anamarn, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, hosted a Musical Night in celebration of the establishment of the ASEAN Community. The event, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was attended by about 300 invited guests, comprising the diplomatic corps, representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as the media.

         The highlight of the evening was the solo guitar performance by Mr. Hucky Eichelmann, a world class guitarist acclaimed by international media as a musical Ambassador between East and West. Mr. Eichelmann took the audience on a musical journey through the ten ASEAN countries as represented by their folk songs which are diverse in style yet share similar roots.

         The concert and reception not only celebrated yet another historic milestone of the region but also promoted awareness and appreciation of the diverse cultures of the ASEAN member countries through the universal language of music.

         The ASEAN Community was officially established on 31 December 2015. Its vision for the next 10 years is to create an even more integrated, people-centred and rules-based community. The vision aims for even greater participation from all sectors of society to create a community where everyone has a stake and no one is left behind.
