The Department of ASEAN Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
hosted ASEAN Music Festival on 29-31 January 2016
On 29 January 2016, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs, M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok, Mr. Jakkrit Srivali, Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, and ASEAN Member States’ Ambassadors in Thailand joined hands in the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Music Festival at Benjasiri Park, Bangkok.
Director-General said “The ASEAN Music Festival was organized to celebrate the establishment of the ASEAN Community, and for the general public, especially young people to learn more about other ASEAN countries through contemporary arts, music and culture. The concept Switch On ASEAN – Beats Beyond Borders was adopted to highlight ASEAN’s cultural diversity within a single community. The Festival featuring famous artists from all ASEAN countries aims to promote ASEAN identity and unity under the shared vision. We hope that the event will create a sense of ownership and encourage greater participation in driving the ASEAN Community forward.
The Festival was held on 29-31 January 2016, featuring famous artists from all 10 ASEAN countries including Ms. Putri Norizah from Brunei Darussalam; Ms. Laura Mam from Cambodia; Mr. Afgansyah Reza and Mr. Rio Sidik from Indonesia; Ms. Alexandra Bounxouei and CELLS from Lao PDR; Mr. Shazroul and Ms. POOVA from Malaysia; Mr. Ah Moon and Ms. Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein from Myanmar; Ms. Portia Rana and the Philippines Connection from Philippines; Ms. Daphne Khoo from Singapore; 25 Hours, Room 39, Mr. Pop Pongkool, Ms. Gai Anchuleeon, Kor-Pai Band, See Yod Band and Byrd & Heart from Thailand; and Viet Wonder from Vietnam. The highlight of the opening ceremony was the song “ASEAN One” which was arranged by Mr. Todd Tongdee and performed by artists of all 10 ASEAN countries.
