On 8 July 2025, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, participated in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Interface with the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Representatives, held during the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Post Ministerial Conferences in Kuala Lumpur. Thailand’s AICHR Representative, Assistant Professor Dr. Bhanubhatra Jittiang, was also in attendance.

 

The meeting reviewed AICHR’s efforts in promoting and protecting human rights across ASEAN, and exchanged views on key developments, including the promotion of the rights of children, women, and persons with disabilities; human rights in the context of business, the environment, and emerging digital challenges such as online scams and cyber-related abuses. The Vice Minister highlighted the role of AICHR and Thailand’s representative in advancing an equitable and people-centred region.
