On 16 January 2026, Ms. Suchada Maktara, Deputy Director-General of the Department of ASEAN Affairs, met with Mrs. Niamh Collier-Smith, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand. 

During the meeting, Deputy Director-General reiterated Thailand’s commitment to addressing transboundary haze pollution in the region through relevant cooperation frameworks, including ASEAN and the CLEAR Sky Strategy. Both sides exchanged views on how the Department of ASEAN Affairs can work with the UNDP to advance cooperation to tackle transboundary haze pollution in Thailand and in the region.
