On 5 August 2017, H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, handed over copies of important ASEAN documents in braille and in digital audio-book formats to ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Secretary-General of ASEAN at the 50th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting/Post Ministerial Conferences in Manila, the Republic of the Philippines. This “Fifty at Fifty” project – fifty copies of ASEAN documents in braille and digital audio-book formats on the occasion of the fifty year anniversary of ASEAN – is designed to increase access to ASEAN documents for visually impaired persons.
ASEAN documents in braille comprise the ASEAN Charter, ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the Bangkok Declaration on Promoting an ASEAN – EU Global Partnership for Shared Strategic Goals which is the outcome document from the 21st ASEAN – EU Ministerial Meeting held in Bangkok in October 2016.
The presentation of the ASEAN documents in braille is a concrete implementation of the policy of Thailand and ASEAN to build a people-centered Community which leaves no one behind.
